"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." These are the words inscribed on The Statue of Liberty in New Yok. But those who go there are not the poor & the wretched, but the skilled & the highly qualified people. The brain drain problem is linked to the process of intellectual growth. the problem exists when the intellectuals of a country go abroad leaving a gap in the country's national life. Brain drain deprives the country of precious human resources groomed for years as talented proffessionals. their exit depletes the country's resources. Brain drain has adverse effects on national life. The revolution in the feild of science & technology inspires many brilliant students to seek migration for carrer advancement. Perhaps the most important reason for the brain drain phenomenon is an educational system which doesn't serve the needs of the country.
The better pay packages have good & favourable living condition & the liking of high salary tempts the talented pros to settle abroad. It is high time the government took measures to stop the flight of talent from one country to another. Our leaders must realise the loss increased by the exodus of these talented persons & covince them to return to their country of origin. They should be assured of better facilities, better living conditions & proper utilisation of their talents in the country's welfare. Let those talented persons contribute to the nation's progress through their specialisation. But there's something that those persons should remember, an old mother once said to her young son -
" Go there to study,
but come back
to serve your mother"
hmmmm..........thought provoking.
